Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Classification Proceedings

MA Sex Offender Registry Classification

In Massachusetts, if you are a sex offender, you have the opportunity to send in information to help with your classification.  The information you should provide should be evidence to show that you are not a risk to re-offend and you do not pose a risk to the public.  You are allowed 30 days to make a submission in writing to argue your case.  Following your submission of evidence, the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board will make its determination.

If you do not agree with the determination of the MA Sex Offender Registry Board, you must send a written request for a hearing.  Your written request must be received within 20 days of the board’s determination.  If 20 days has passed without the board receiving your hearing request, your hearing is deemed waived and your classification will be deemed final. If you do want to challenge your classification, you should not go through the process without a lawyer.
